The Caen Memorial for Peace, the French National Audiovisual Institute (INA) and the public television company France 3 Normandy wish to share with large numbers the knowledge of events which have been a turning point in World War Two, i.e. the D-Day Landing and the Normandy Campaign. Driven by a common sense of public service, these three institutions want to highlight and perpetuate the work of memory through testimonies and archive material from a whole range of sources. This is the first part of a historical overview that will also include the year 1939 and the period ranging from 1945 to the end of reconstruction in Normandy, at the beginning of the 1960s.
